Are you studying the neurological or cardiac impacts of SARS-CoV-2? We can help. We are offering a special discount on plates for those doing SARS-CoV-2 research. Our team of experts is available for functional testing of your drugs.

Coronaviruses have two primary impacts on the CNS. First, they have been shown to directly infect neural cells allowing them to achieve latency and avoid immune detection. Second and more commonly, they have been shown to induce Acute Necrotizing Encephalopathy (ANE), a rare complication of some viral infections including SARS-CoV-2.

Viral prodrome precedes ANE, and while the condition can resolve, there is often neurological sequelae. The underlying cause of ANE is believed to be a cytokine storm leading to neural necrosis.

SARS-CoV-2 has also been shown to have cardiac implications, as well. Not surprisingly, individuals with underlying cardiac conditions are more likely to develop complications. One study  found that, of patients hospitalized, 16.7% developed arrhythmias and 7.2% developed acute cardiac injury. Additionally, some of the medications being suggested to treat viral infection have potential cardiotoxicities.

The StemoniX microBrain and microHeart platforms can be used to study these conditions. microBrain 2D has been tested as an effective model of for infection by and blockage of neurotropic viruses, and microBrain 3D is perfect for studying the functional impact of cytokines and ensuring the neurosafety profiles of anti-viral therapies. microHeart identifies potential cardiac toxicities more accurately than flat culture.

Let's solve this.
